Rumbai raffia fringe lamp

Raffia is a fibre from palm leaves. The Rumbai shade has long fringes (rumbai) that stir in every draught, and its layered, ruffled shape gives soft, warm light. The raffia is undyed. Touched, the fringes rustle like grass.

Over the bed, in a corner of the living room, above a table on a covered terrace. It looks best hung low and free — the fringes need room to move.

Material and care: keep raffia dry, away from steam and damp; dust with a soft brush. Over time the fibre deepens slightly to a straw colour — that is natural. Choose a light source that stays cool, such as LED.

Handmade: the density of the fringes, the shade and the exact shape of each lamp differ from the photo — that is the nature of handwork, not a flaw.
