Ceremonial songket from Gelgel

Songket is cloth with an extra weft of gold or silver thread. In Bali it is worn for ceremonies and weddings. Ours come from Gelgel in Klungkung, where one metre of songket can take a week at the loom.
Each piece has its own dimensions and pattern layout. We will give exact sizes and colours when the textiles join the collection.
For the wall — on a rail or in a frame — where the gold thread catches the afternoon light. As a throw over the bed or the back of a sofa it gives a room a ceremonial weight.
Material and care: metallic thread does not like water or rubbing. Do not machine wash; if needed, clean gently by hand in cool water, without wringing, and dry flat in the shade. Keep out of full sun.
Handmade: every cloth is woven individually on a hand loom, so pattern, shade and dimensions may differ from the photo. This is the nature of songket, not a defect.
