Handicraft from Bali

You recognise handicraft from Bali by the trace of the hand: an uneven rim of glaze, a shell matched to its neighbour by eye, a weave that tightens in one spot. These are not flaws but proof that the piece was made one at a time rather than pressed in a mould.

We gather ceramics from workshops in Jimbaran and the village of Pejaten, shell work from studios near Ubud, bamboo chimes and instruments, and small pieces that fit in an envelope. We buy directly from workshops we visited in person in August 2026.
