Wall decor from Bali

Wall decor from Bali usually comes down to three things: round mirrors in sunburst frames of mindong grass or rattan, carved wooden panels with lotus and tree-of-life motifs, and shapes covered in small shells. All are made by hand, so the pattern never repeats exactly.

Mirrors range from 50 to 100 centimetres across, and at the larger sizes their weight calls for a wall plug. Panels are carved in Jepara and around Mas; the shells are gathered and sorted by hand in workshops near Ubud. Every piece lists its dimensions so you can plan the wall before you buy.
